Artist Statement

Alice is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores colonial history and its lasting influence on contemporary politics, identity, and everyday perception. Working across film, painting, collage, sculpture, and found materials, she investigates how deeply embedded colonial narratives continue to shape the way we understand the world and one another.

Through a decolonising approach, Alice challenges dominant historical perspectives and examines the tensions between opposing political opinions and social divides. Her work is driven by a desire to create dialogue between differing viewpoints, questioning systems of power while seeking moments of connection and understanding.

Using vintage digital cameras, she creates films that carry a sense of memory, distortion, and archival intimacy. These moving images are often combined with layered found materials, painted surfaces, collage, and sculptural forms, creating works that feel both personal and historically fragmented. By reworking existing objects and images, Alice reflects on how histories are preserved, erased, and retold.

Her practice exists between research and material experimentation, using multimedia processes to confront inherited narratives and imagine new ways of seeing beyond political and cultural binaries.
